The eight regional champions cook their main courses in a bid to secure a place on the menu of a banquet celebrating British innovation. Carol Vorderman is the guest judge.

In this episode, guest judge, scientist and broadcaster Carol Vorderman joins food critic Matthew Fort, restaurateur Oliver Peyton and broadcaster and cook Rachel Khoo as they select the menu’s main course.

This is the centerpiece of the banquet that every chef desperately wants to cook – so competition in the kitchen is tougher than ever. Each chef is producing a dish which celebrates an innovator or inventor from their region, and with the most complex dishes of the week to prepare and only two spots left on the banquet menu, the chefs are pushed to their limits. While some rise to the occasion, others crack under the pressure.
