Tanya Moodie, the actress and star of Motherland on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Two, talks to Zoe about the brand new series. It was created by Sharon Horgan, Graham Linehan and Helen Linehan and follows the stories of a group of mothers (and fathers) living in London. It's a mum-eat-mum world and the brave women and men of the school run come face to face with playdate politics, the PTA's reign of terror and never having a pee by yourself. Tanya is an Olivier award nominee, RTS Breakthrough Award winner and has starred in A Discovery of Witches and Star Wars: The Rise of SkyWalker.
To mark the start of Mental Health Awareness Week Zoe will be chatting to therapist Raoul Lindsay. They will talk about how to achieve good mental health and also how being or becoming a parent can affect it, with 2 members of our Tiny Happy People Families sharing their own personal stories.
Between 8 am and 9 am Zoe keeps the tunes rolling on Maximum Music Monday. And Zoe plays three disco classics from her personal collection in the Disco Ball at 8.30!
Along with Clare Runacres on news, Richie Anderson on travel and Mike Williams on sport, she and the team have the best start to your morning. With celeb guests, headlines, tunes chosen by listeners, and more music that you can shake a glitterball at!

Pause For Thought
It is the final week of Ramadan, and though it may sound odd, when Iβm fasting, my favourite pastime is to flick the pages of my many cookbooks and get lost in my imagination by conjuring up the gorgeous smells and flavours of the colourful foods on each page.Β
The recipes, the ingredients, the methods, I just love it! I have a little notebook of all the things I am going to try out once the month is over.
I know itβs strange, and if I had to fast from cookbooks as well as food and drink, Iβm not sure I would make it through the holy month.
The other day I was flicking through a cookbook and came across a recipe for cornmeal porridge, this was one of my grandmaβs favourite dishes.Β
She used to make sure it was piping hot, as she did not believe in serving anything that did not radiate a trail of steam. She would dish it out into one of those metal white bowls with the blue rims, and then grate nutmeg on top.Β Whenever I tried to make cornmeal porridge by myself, it never tasted the same, it was normally too thick or too lumpy. My grandma promised she would teach me, but as her dementia got worse, it became unsafe for her to be in the kitchen, even with supervision. One of my few regrets is not spending enough time with her and learning from her while I could.
There was something about this particular recipe that made me think, βLet me just try it today and not wait until the end ofΒ Β Ramadanβ. That evening before the sunset, I attempted to make it, it was ready just in time to break my fast. It was not quite like my grandmaβs recipe, but it was pretty good all the same.Β
Before, not making cornmeal porridge with her felt like a memory I had lost out on.
Imam Jalaudine Rumi 13th century poet and mystic said:
Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β Β βThere are many ways to kneel and kiss the groundβ.
That evening, while trying to recreate the recipe in my grandmaβs honour, I realised holding her in my heart was the same as having her by my side. Though she was not next to me, I could still appreciate and love her.
