The Coralβs James Skelly
The Coralβs James Skelly joins Mark and Stuart to share his 'First, Last and Everything' and chat about the bandβs new album
Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie present a feast of great music and chat for weekend breakfast
Today, The Coralβs James Skelly joins Mark and Stuart to share his 'First, Last and Everything' - thatβs the first record he bought or owned, the most recent one heβs enjoyed and the record that means βeverythingβ to him. He also chats about the bandβs forthcoming new album.
James has been frontman of Merseyside indie rockers The Coral since the band formed in 1996. Their self-titled Mercury Nominated debut album came out in 2002 and included hit singles βDreaming Of Youβ and βGoodbyeβ. Their tenth studio album β titled βCoral Islandβ - is due out this month and will be the bandβs first double album. The new album is partly based on the bandβs seaside memories growing up. The concept originally started off as a place where their ideas came together, and then it grew from there. They say the album, which was recorded at Liverpoolβs Parr Street Studios, is about βthe light, shade, thrills and profound melancholy of coastal palaces packed with fun and fright.β In the past few years James has produced all three of Blossomsβ albums, two of which reached no. 1 in the UK.
Also on the show... a whole host of quality radio items including 'Breakfast Blend' - three tracks that make a great sonic blend - plus another instalment of Sunday Glove Songs.
You can take part in The Chain, choosing a track for our world-famous list of over 8000 interconnected songs.
Plus a finely balanced blend of new and old music, setting you up for a Sunday.
