Marisha Wallace, Broadway and West End star, chooses her final Tracks of My Years. There's the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster.
Marisha Wallace - Broadway and West End star - chooses her final Tracks of My Years. Born in North Carolina, USA, Marisha first appeared in the original Broadway casts of 'Aladdin' and 'Something Rotten' as a member of the ensemble and understudy. In January 2017 she became an alternate Effie White in the West End production of 'Dreamgirls'. Following the departure of Amber Riley from the production, Marisha took over the role, sharing with Karen Mav and Moya Angela. That same year she released her Christmas album 'Soul Holiday' and in 2019 she joined the original London cast of 'Waitress' as Becky. This summer she will be starring in the London Coliseum production of 'Hairspray' as Motormouth Maybelle opposite Michael Ball.
Marisha's debut album 'Tomorrow' was released at the end of last year and in January she performed in our first House Music session of 2021 accompanied by the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra. Her magnificent renditions of 'Before I Go' and 'Tomorrow' can still be found on the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Music Youtube Channel.
Marisha was also on the panel of experts who helped whittle down 100 years of classic musical songs to a shortlist of of 50 for Radio 2's Greatest Song From a Musical Vote earlier this year. On the 31 January, as part of a special Radio 2 Celebrates Musicals weekend, fellow panellist and West End legend Elaine Paige revealed the big winner on her Sunday Show with Les MisΓ©rables' iconic 'One Day More' taking the top spot.
The final two tracks Marisha has chosen come from Avril Lavigne and Alicia Keys. Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus another round of the legendary music quiz PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk
