A 19-12 defeat in last year’s meeting on the opening weekend of the tournament left Scotland with just four wins from their 21 meetings in the Six Nations era. Then a 31-16 reverse in the Autumn Nations Cup clash between the sides last December ensured Scotland’s 2021 campaign was bookended by defeats against Ireland.
