Nationwide survey on hare coursing, farmers say it's underreported. Supermarket pledge to use net zero suppliers. Falling numbers of beef cattle, what future for the industry?
A nationwide survey on hare coursing has been launched. The illegal blood sport is a growing problem and farmers believe it's severely underreported. Gangs drive onto fields and set dogs to chase hares. Now the Yorkshire Agricultural Society is asking anyone affected to take part in a survey which it hopes will lead to the problem being taken more seriously.
Morrisons has pledged to make its network of British farm suppliers carbon net zero by 2030. The supermarket says it'll work with its 3000 producers to cut emissions, using everything from renewable energy and tree planting to changing animal feeds.
The number of beef cattle is falling, a beef specialist in Scotland tells us how farmers can improve their performance and reduce carbon emissions.
