Emmy The Great
Travel journalist Rob Crossan welcomes Emmy The Great to share stories and music from her favourite place to travel, Hong Kong.
Travel journalist Rob Crossan welcomes Emmy The Great to share stories and music from her favourite place to travel, Hong Kong. The Happiness Map asks musicians which destination in the world they would go to if they could, gives them a chance to reveal their travel tips and dig out some records that take them back there.
A musician, composer and writer, Emmy has released four albums, presented documentaries on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 4 and written songs for Sara Pascoe's latest TV series. Born in Hong Kong and raised there until the age of 12, she recently began using music to access Cantonese, her mother tongue. This led her back to Hong Kong, where she lived again from 2018-2020, and where she wrote her fourth album, 'April/ÔÂÒô' which came out last year. In this episode she remembers going to school in rural Sha Tin, reveals why Lamma Island would be her first stop, and shares some of her favourite old school Canto-Pop.
