Rats, Masks and Second Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔs
How lockdown could mean unwanted four-legged guests in your home this winter. And the small businesses who've kept going through the pandemic by producing reusable face masks.
Lots of people are desperate to get vaccinated against Covid, but scammers are trying to trick them into paying. The police have been contacted by hundreds of people who’ve received a scam email, apparently offering them a vaccination. We speak to two "You and Yours" listeners about their shock after receiving what they thought was an invitation from the NHS. City of London Police say the first reports of this scam email came to them last Monday, and they think there are already people who've lost money.
Are you being visited by unwanted four-legged guests during the lockdown? Pest control companies say they always see a rise in rodent problems in the Winter – but this year could be worse, thanks to the pandemic. With the closure of pubs and restaurants, and less litter being dropped, rats and mice are venturing nearer to our homes, looking for food.
And we hear from the small businesses making ends meet, by producing reusable masks. Crafters and designers have been working flat out and are seeing their products go around the world, while some companies have grown their business, thanks to mask sales. We speak to Hello magazine’s online fashion editor about the range of fashionable face-wear now on offer.
