Celeste - last year's BRIT Rising Star and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Sound Of... winner, and considered by many to be 2020's breakout performer - chooses the Tracks Of My Years. Born in Culver City, California in 1994, Celeste Epiphany Waite moved with her mother to Dagenham at the age of three eventually settling in the village of Saltdean near Brighton where she spent most of her early years. Her musical journey started when she uploaded her song 'North Circular' onto the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Music Introducing website in 2014 and provided vocals for electronic producers such as Avicii, Tieks and Real Lies while also self-publishing content onto SoundCloud in her spare time.
In 2016 she made her solo debut via Lily Allen's vanity label Bank Holiday Records where she released her debut EP 'The Milk & The Honey' catching the attention of labelmate Michael Kiwanuka. Her first single 'Stop This Flame' was everywhere this time last year impressing other chart-topping musicians such as Elton John, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Lewis Capaldi and Christina Aguilera. Last month she released her debut album 'Not Your Muse' including her latest single 'Love Is Back' which she first performed live on Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny. She's hoping to play live in July with three nights at London's Union Chapel.
The first two tracks Celeste has chosen come from Dionne Warwick and The Platters. Ken also has another round of the legendary PopMaster music quiz and your dedications with today's love song. There's also the record and album of the week.
