Celebrating Burns Night with guests Dr Frank Ferguson and chef Paula McIntyre in words and music with the Kintra Team

The Kintra Team celebrate Burns Night with guests Dr Frank Ferguson and chef Paula McIntyre and songs from Janet Dowd and Diana Culbertson.

No β€œweeee, sleekit, cowrin, tim’rous beastie” appears in this week’s programme, but the man behind the poem - Robert Burns - is the focus of the chat as we talk about his influence on poetry and song. There’s another opportunity to hear Helen Mark’s very colourful β€œaddress to the haggis” as we remember the essential elements – including food and drink – of a traditional Burns Night. There’s music from Armagh singer Janet Dowd and Diana Culbertson who’s accompanied by the Dunloy Accordian Band.
Guests Paula McIntyre and Dr Frank Ferguson join Helen, Rab Lennox and Jonnie Crawford for this week’s programme.

The Kintra folk love to hear from listeners – so why not get in touch with a yarn or maybe even suggest a tune you’d love to hear – you can email them at kintra@bbc.co.uk
