Pauline Black of The Selecter

The Queen of 2-Tone, The Selecter’s Pauline Black joins Roddy and there's another chance to enjoy their high-octane performance for The Quay Sessions, recorded in 2017.

Roddy Hart is live from Pacific Quay in Glasgow with a host of musicians dropping in alongside new releases and archive sessions.

The Queen of 2-Tone, The Selecter’s Pauline Black joins Roddy to discuss the importance of the musical movement and her continuing campaign to support racial equality in all her creative output.

The Selecter are a platinum-selling band and one of the most influential within the 2-Tone music scene, alongside The Beat, The Specials and Madness. Born out of the 2-Tone movement in Coventry in the late 70s, they’re vibrant, passionate and inclusive with a positive message which resonates just as much today as it ever did.

Responsible for hits like 3 Minute Hero, Too Much Pressure and On My Radio, Pauline talks to Roddy about the band’s important place in the fabric of the British music scene and we hear their high-octane performance for The Quay Sessions, recorded in 2017, and also 2-Tone contemporaries The Beat featuring the late Ranking Roger.

Roddy also meets fast-rising UK singer Beabadoobee to find out more about her fresh take on 90s alt-rock, Leah Weller introduces her new single and there’s new music from Hot Chip, Joesef and The Magic Gang.
