Dr Rangan Chatterjee sits in, and launches Radio 2's Grief Conversations. He's joined by illustrator Gary Andrews who drew a 'doodle a day' after the death of his wife, Joy.

Dr Rangan Chatterjee sits in for Jason and Kate and launches Radio 2's Grief Conversations, helping people who are grieving by sharing experiences.

His guest is Gary Andrews. Gary is an animator and illustrator who lost his wife Joy in 2017. She died, very suddenly, of Sepsis, leaving Gary a widower and a single Dad. As a way to work through the shock and grief, he took to posting a β€˜doodle a day’ on social media – the doodles always illustrated some thought, moment or challenge he had faced on that particular day. The drawings are now pulled together in a book called 'Finding Joy' and are often funny, always poignant and life-affirming, as Gary and his children muddle through their new reality. Rangan talks to him about his experience of loss and how drawing has helped his journey through grief.

Plus journalist and writer Matthew Syed tells Rangan about his new children's book 'Dare To Be You' which aims to help young people build confidence and resilience.
