Michael Kiwanuka's Final Tracks Of My Years

Michael Kiwanuka picks his final Tracks of My Years in an interview first broadcast in 2016. There's the daily love song plus more from the legendary PopMaster Music Quiz.

Michael Kiwanuka, recipient of The 2020 Mercury Prize and former Â鶹ԼÅÄ Sound Of...winner, picks this week's Tracks Of My Years.

The Mercury win was third time lucky for Michael after he was nominated for his first two albums, the second of which 'Love & Hate' went to number 1 and received a BRIT nomination.

Born to Uganda parents living in Muswell Hill in London, Michael studied jazz and worked as a session musician before finally deciding to go solo. As a young musician, he was repeatedly told to choose a new name to make him "more marketable", but he refused, and with cool self-assuredness, called his latest album 'Kiwanuka'.

Michael first came to widespread attention after topping the Â鶹ԼÅÄ's coveted 'Sound Of....' poll in 2012, and his first two albums - 'Â鶹ԼÅÄ Again' and 'Love & Hate' were both lavished with praise. Michael's final two tracks come from Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions and Otis Redding.

Ken also has the daily love song, record and album of the week plus PopMaster. If you'd like to get in touch with the show email Ken.Bruce@bbc.co.uk.
