A hedgerow harvest to set you up for the long winter days, and memories from Portavogie.
This week’s guests chat about the hedgerow harvest for winter’s jams, chutneys and drinks and we hear about memories of Portavogie – now in print.
Guests Paula McIntyre and Elaine McFeeters join this week’s Kintra team of Helen, Rab and Willie and the chat is all about harvesting from the hedgerows. There are plenty of ideas for sloes, apples, blackberries, elderberries and rosehips. It’s not just about being canny with the fruit, there might even be a few quid to make for a good cause. There’s plenty of Ulster-Scots blether too about the memories and yarns from Portavogie that find their way into the annual booklet from the town’s Culture and Heritage Society.
The Kintra team just love to hear from listeners who’ve a yarn to share, a favourite tune to request or an Ulster-Scots event to promote. Get in touch by email at kintra@bbc.co.uk .
