Bloody Scotland prize-winning authors, Cathy Rentzenbrink, and World Alzheimer's Day

Bloody Scotland literary prize-winners, plus author Cathy Rentzenbrink on her new book, and Janice meets the team behind a new short film released for World Alzheimer's Day today.

Bloody Scotland, Scotland’s international festival of crime writing, happened online over the weekend. Janice will be talking to the newly announced winners of The McIlvanney Scottish Crime Book of the Year and the Scottish Crime Debut Novel of the Year.

Gaelic drama Bannan starts its seventh series tonight with a challenging storyline for young cast member Meredith Brook who plays Ceitidh. Meredith will be joined by producer Chris Young to discuss this thread of the series, which revolves around the sharing of intimate photographs online.

Acclaimed author Cathy Rentzenbrink talks about her beautiful new book for readers everywhere: Dear Reader- The Comfort and Joy of Books.

Today is World Alzheimer’s Day, and Raindog Productions and the Dementia Services Department Trust have joined forces to make a moving short film, Take Me With You. Actor Barbara Rafferty, the Trust’s Professor June Andrews and director and producer Stuart Davids join Janice to talk about why they wanted to make the film and how they did it under challenging lockdown conditions.

And musician Joe McAlinden chats about his new solo album, which started life in a film that premiered at the 2014 Edinburgh International Film Festival, but which is out now.
