Gabby Logan introduces the annual domestic showpiece, with breakthrough performances and breathtaking action in store over the two days of competition.
The championships were supposed to serve as Olympic trials in June but have twice been pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic – making their go-ahead all the more anticipated.
Events are being held behind closed doors at the Manchester Regional Arena, which hosts the championships for the first time since 2007. Taking top billing on Friday is the 100m. The ever-competitive men’s race produced a shock win last year for Ojie Edoburun in a blanket finish, while the peerless Dina Asher-Smith retained her women’s title in a Championship record time. The sprint hurdles and women’s long jump are other anticipated highlights on the first night of action.
