Episode 1

A descendant of the legendary storyteller takes up the family tradition in a bid to restore his good name. Read by William Gaminara. Written by James Robertson.

A specially commissioned series from James Robertson celebrating travel, adventure and the importance of storytelling. Read by William Gaminara.

Our hero is a descendant of the original 18th century Baron Munchausen, whose tall tales inspired a book that would forever link the family name with fibs and exaggeration. Eager to redress the balance, the current Baron dedicates himself to setting down the unvarnished truth about his own exploits.

James writes, β€œThe present-day Baron’s adventures are no less incredible, but in his case every detail has a rational explanation and not one word is an exaggeration or a lie. He flies with swans, sails, sledges and balloons his way round the world, is swallowed by a whale, encounters wolves and alligators, fights bush fires in Australia, orbits the moon and plays golf with the President of the USA. He does the kind of things, in other words, that have been denied to the rest of us for months. Realism, escapism or a mixture of the two? Judge for yourselves.”

James Robertson is an award-winning poet, novelist and short story writer whose books include β€˜Joseph Knight’, β€˜And The Land Lay Still’ and β€˜To Be Continued...’. His next novel 'News of the Dead' is published in August.
