Kwame Kwei-Armah
Young Vic Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah joins Kate and Jason to talk about his career, black representation in the arts and his concerns for the future of theatre.
Reverend Kate Bottley and Jason Mohammad present uplifting stories about life, love and modern spirituality, alongside a great soundtrack for your Sunday morning.
Their guest is one of the UK's most exciting creative leaders, actor, writer and Artistic Director of the Young Vic, Kwame Kwei-Armah. Ahead of the broadcast of a Â鶹ԼÅÄ One 'imagine...' programme about Kwame and his work, he joins Kate and Jason to talk about his career, how a boy called Ian Roberts from Southall became the respected artist he is now. Kwame has been vocal about the existential challenge that Covid-19 is posing to the arts and our theatres, he talks about the huge contribution they make to British culture and what we can do to help protect them.
Plus our Charity Champion is the ‘Skipping Sikh’ who has raised over £13,000 for NHS Charities. Rajinder Singh, 73, became a bit of a social media sensation after recording exercise videos in his allotment to stay active. The retired bus driver has now received a Points of Light Award from the Prime Minister for his efforts and tells Kate and Jason about his surprise at the attention and why he is passionate about staying fit and healthy and encouraging others to do the same.
