The Osmonds, pianist Steven Osborne, Richard Holloway and Audrey Gillan.

Live classical music returns to Scotland this week; pianist Steven Osborne and Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3 Controller Alan Davey tell Janice about staging these physically-distanced concerts.

Tomorrow sees the start of a series of four concerts, the first live concerts in Scotland since lockdown started. They will be happening in strict compliance with the government guidelines on social distancing, involving artists from Central Scotland, and will feature either soloists or duets, broadcast live on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3, and streamed in HD on the City Halls website. Pianist Steven Osborne and Alan Davey, Controller of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 3, will be talking about the concerts, and they’ll be joined by the RSNO Chief Executive Alistair Mackie. The RSNO recently streamed a series of online concerts, The Friday Night Club, which they created out of what was only ever meant to be test footage, and which has gone on to be a hit around the world.

Best-selling author and former Bishop of Edinburgh Richard Holloway talks with Janice about how we find meaning in uncertain times, the subject of his new book. Stories we Tell Ourselves is a personal, scientific and philosophical journey, examining what we think we know about the universe, where we come from, and the stories we tell ourselves just to get through life.

We dip once more into our star-studded archives and there’s another chance to hear Janice’s interview with Jay, Jimmy and Merrill Osmond.

Scottish journalist, Audrey Gillan talks about her radio documentary, Weans’ World, a fascinating insight into the lives of children in Glasgow’s Shettleston community, a place the journalist knows well, as she too grew up in the East End.

And in our Make a Difference slot, Susan Sutherland, founder of the Moray Baby Bank, tells us about how she’s been providing a crucial service to new mothers who have found themselves in real financial hardship by providing them with the bare baby essentials during lockdown.
