Petroc Trelawny introduces a performance of Mendelssohn’s oratorio Elijah, recorded in Birmingham Town Hall in October 2008, in a version made especially for this evening’s concert based on the original 1846 first performance there, which was conducted by the composer. The concert is presented in conversation with this evening’s conductor, Jeffrey Skidmore.
