Film Reviews Rachel Griffiths, Simon Pegg and a new book on the Late John Martyn
Scottish author Graeme Thomson will be discussing his new biography on the legendary John Martyn
Grant Stott will be in conversation with Scottish author Graeme Thomson; they will be discussing Small Hours his new biography on the late great John Martyn. Although he was born in Surrey and died in Ireland, Martyn was formed in Glasgow. As well as being a hugely successful singer songwriter, he also recorded with the best of his generation and the next: Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood and David Gilmour, as well as Paul Weller - and his influence is acknowledged by everyone from Beck to James Yorkston via Beth Orton.
Oscar Nominated Actress RACHEL GRIFFITHS - of ‘HILARY AND JACKIE’, ‘MURIEL’S WEDDING’, ‘HACKSAW RIDGE’, fame - will be discussing her directorial debut RIDE LIKE A GIRL and English comedian and screenwriter Simon Pegg will discuss his latest film, the drama Lost Transmissions, which sees the 50-year-old star in an against-type role as a music producer struggling with schizophrenia.
Grant will also be hosting our Streaming Film Review Hour when he’ll discuss the dark and powerful new historical drama Fanny Lye Deliver’d; set on a remote 17th century farm, the arrival of two mysterious strangers transforms the life of 'Puritan huswife' Fanny Lye.
Lynn + Lucy is also under review: Fyzal Boulifa's unforgiving study of working-class tragedy and community .…and a contemporary classic: Back to the Future - the 1985 American science fiction film directed by Robert Zemeckis. It stars Michael J. Fox as teenager Marty McFly, who accidentally travels back in time from 1985 to 1955, where he meets his future parents (!)
