Sir Geoff Palmer, Scotland’s first black professor and Professor Emeritus in the School of Life Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, explores Scotland’s prominent role in slavery and colonialism, addressing the contentious issue of what to do about statues and memorials dedicated to those who profited from the Transatlantic slave trade.
Film maker Stewart Kyasimire and Black writer and feminist blogger Claire Heuchan join Geoff Palmer to talk with Tony about how we come to terms with this past, and if including an honest account of this history in the curriculum could change future discussions about race issues.
