The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Lockdown Orchestra, Streaming Film Review and The Vapors!

The Vapors, Streaming Film Reviews and The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Lockdown Orchestra.

The Â鶹ԼÅÄ Lockdown Orchestra: As part of a ten-day creative challenge for the Get Creative festival, Â鶹ԼÅÄ Arts and Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio 3 have been asking the nation to dust off their instruments and warm up their vocal cords to join the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Lockdown Orchestra in a national collaborative rendition of Florence + The Machine’s 2009 anthem of hope ‘You’ve Got The Love’. The public are being invited to film and upload their performances to bbc.co.uk/getcreative, where their submissions will join those of the Â鶹ԼÅÄ Lockdown Orchestra to create a track which will premiere across Â鶹ԼÅÄ Radio on Thursday 14th May, and debut as a music video on Â鶹ԼÅÄ Four at 8.55pm. We will preview it all and hear from some of those involved.

Celebrating 40 years since the release of their debut album ‘New Clear Days’ and their massive hit, ‘Turning Japanese,’ British New Wave band The Vapors return with a brand new album – ‘Together,’ (out 15th May) – Grant will hear all about it from frontman and main man Dave Fenton.

He will also be hosting our Streaming Film Review Hour: when we’ll hear about Becoming - an intimate documentary about former first lady Michelle Obama.

And Women Make Film: A Road Movie Through Cinema (which follows in the footsteps of Mark Cousins’ The Story of Film: An Odyssey,) to give us a guided tour of the art and craft of the movies. Using almost a thousand film extracts from thirteen decades and five continents, Cousins asks how films are made, shot and edited; how stories are shaped and how movies depict life, love, politics, humour and death, all through the compelling lens of some of the world’s greatest directors — all of them women

All that and a contemporary classic; Sofia Coppola’s brilliant and unforgettable The Virgin Suicides: a story of love and repression, sex and death, memory and longing. It is at its core a mystery: a heart-rending investigation into the impenetrable, life-altering secrets of American adolescence.
