Lionel Richie chooses the Tracks of My Years with Ken back in 2009, following the release of his ninth studio album 'Just Go'.
Lionel's first record deal was with the Commodores, in which he sang and played the saxophone. Their hits included 'Brick House', 'Easy' and 'Three Times a Lady'.
In 1981 he sang the theme song for the film 'Endless Love' with Diana Ross and embarked on his solo career. His portfolio of solo songs include 'Dancing On The Ceiling', 'All Night Long (All Night)' and his only UK number 1 single 'Hello'.
Lionel has toured extensively, won four Grammy Awards and in 1986 won the Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song for 'Say You, Say Me', when it featured in the film 'White Nights'.
He has three children, and at the time of recording he had recently become a grandfather, when his daughter Nicole gave birth to a baby girl. His first chosen tunes of the week in 2009 come from Stevie Wonder and Nat King Cole.
In the subsequent years Lionel has played the Legend slot at Glastonbury Festival in 2015, been a judge on 'American Idol' and released 'Tuskegee', an album of his songs recorded as duets with country music stars including Kenny Rogers, Shania Twain and Little Big Town.
Ken also has the album of the week entitled 'Eurovision 2020' - a special tribute to the artists and songs of that very popular song contest. In the absence of the full event in Rotterdam, the European Broadcasting Union will be producing a new show, 'Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light', to air in place of the Grand Final on Saturday 16 May. The show will honour all 41 songs, in a non-competitive format, as well as providing plenty of surprises for fans and viewers at home.
