Jacqui Abbott, PopMaster and live music from James Blunt
Jacqui Abbott, of The Beautiful South and one half of a duo with Paul Heaton, picks the Tracks of My Years. Plus live music from James Blunt at home as part of Radio 2 House Music.
Live Music from James Blunt recorded exclusively at his home for Radio 2 House Music.
Jacqui Abbott, The Beautiful South singer, and one half of Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, picks the Tracks of My Years, with songs from The Pointer Sisters and John Barry.
Jacqui grew up in St. Helens, Merseyside, near Liverpool. She was discovered by The Beautiful South co-founder Paul Heaton. He invited her to audition and replace Briana Corrigan in the band. She was successful and toured with The Beautiful South for 6 years (1994-2000). In that time she featured on many of their classic hits including 'Rotterdam', 'Perfect 10', 'Don’t Marry Her' and 'Dream A Little Dream'.
In 2011 Jacqui reunited with Paul Heaton, to star in his musical 'The 8th', which examined society's wicked ways through the seven deadly sins. Different singers represented different sins - Jacqui was envy.
In 2014 Jacqui and Paul released their first studio album together - 'What Have We Become?', which was then followed by a second album in 2015 - 'Wisdom, Laughter and Lines'.
In 2016 they embarked on their first tour together, and in 2017 they released the album 'Cooked Calypso' and once again headed out on tour.
On 6th March 2020 Jacqui and Paul released their first UK No.1 album, 'Manchester Calling', produced by long time collaborator John Williams.
To coincide with the album's release; Paul, Jacqui and the band will be embarking on a UK tour in October and November. On 13th October they will play a free concert for all NHS workers, at Motorpoint arena in Nottingham.
