Viagogo; Coroner Reports; British Gas

Viagogo allows touts to 'resell' tickets they do not own, despite committing to clean up its website. Plus are hospitals and care homes failing to learn from coroners' reports?

An investigation by You & Yours has found that the ticket reselling website Viagogo has been allowing touts to sell tickets they do not own. The programme has found numbered tickets for events including Jimmy Carr, Harry Redknapp and 5ive on sale on the website, when the exact same tickets are still available from the venue. The Competition and Markets Authority recently suspended taking court action against Viagogo after it committed to cleaning up its website and the way it trades, including ensuring customers are given the correct information about tickets they are buying and who is selling them. Viagogo says it is now taking swift action to remove all the listings identified by You & Yours and will ban the traders involved.

Health researchers warn that lives are at risk because warnings from Coroners are not being acted upon. Analysis of more than 1000 Prevention of Future Death reports has identified five themes that come up time and time again. The charity Patient Safety Learning has written to the Chief Coroner because of their concerns about this. You & Yours speaks to a mother who believes lessons from her son's death have not been learned.

Plus British Gas says it is to reverse a decision to increase its minimum top up for pre-payment meters to Β£5 from Β£1. Customers complained to You & Yours that topping up has become more complicated and costly, following the company's transfer of its bill payment service to Payzone in late 2019. The charity, Christians Against Poverty says energy companies need to make it easier for people on low incomes to access cheap electricity.
