Lulu, the singer-songwriter and actress, picks her Tracks of My Years with Gary Davies. Plus there's another round of PopMaster and your dedications with today's love song.
Lulu, the hugely successful singer-songwriter, actress and business woman, picks her Tracks of My Years with songs from Ray Charles and The Isley Brothers. Lulu started young, a 15-year-old Scottish soul sensation. Born into the tough world of Glasgow’s working class tenements in 1948, she was raised as Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie. She has been such a fixture of the British entertainment landscape for so long now; she has become a national treasure. She has sung at the Eurovision, hosted a Saturday night light entertainment TV show, acted in films, theatre and television and sold her own brand make up. Lulu has recorded some classic records over her 51 years in the business, in 1967 she had her number one To Sir With Love, in 1969 soul stormer Oh Me Oh My (I’m A Fool For You Baby), in 1974 Bond theme The Man With The Golden Gun, and the Bowie collaboration The Man Who Sold The World. Plus of course there was the 1993 smash hit with Take That on Relight My Fire and in 2019 Lulu toured with the band on their 35 date UK stadium tour. Her most recent, self-written album β€Making Life Rhymeβ€ stands head and shoulders with Lulu’s very best and most loved work.
Lulu is now bringing her latest live show β€On Fire’ to The London Palladium for Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 2’s Friday Night is Music Night and members of the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Concert Orchestra on Sunday 15th March.
Gary Davies also has another round of the legendary PopMaster music quiz and your dedications with today's love song. There's also the record and album of the week.
