Connie McLaughlin speaks to adventurer Sarah Outen about her remarkable round the world trip by bike, boat and kayak, the solitude of being in the elements for months at a time, and its effect on her mental health.
Radical stories, rebel voices and literary talent are celebrated at Paisley’s first ever book festival, which is marking the bicentenary of the Paisley Radicals. Local author, poet and publisher, Tracy Patrick, and Gerald Carruthers, Professor of Scottish Literature at University of Glasgow, tell us who they were, and discuss the tradition of radical literature.
Taste, cost, organic, animal welfare, the environment, fair treatment of growers – just some of the considerations when it comes to choosing the food we buy. Dr Hannah Richie, of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford, Kelly Wright from The Refillery in Edinburgh, and Pete Ritchie of the Food Ethics Council, explore how we can eat healthily and happily and at the same time protect the planet.
