There's blether and banter galore as the Kintra team celebrates the richness of our words for Ulster-Scots language week.

There's blether and banter galore for Ulster-Scots language week as Helen Mark and the team celebrate the richness of the words and phrases we use in everyday conversation.

There’s blether and banter galore for Ulster-Scots language week with language events planned across the country. Helen Mark and Willie Hill are reminded that the Ulster-Scots prefer to β€œtell it like it is” when describing someone’s character – and it’s not always an insult!
Jonnie Crawford hears from Dr Frank Ferguson about the positive changes regarding the language over recent years and Rab Lennox has a roundup of some of the Ulster-Scots language events taking place this week.
It’s yarning of another kind for Diana Culbertson who visits a very friendly group near Derrykeighan and rediscovers her love of knitting.
With Thanksgiving Day drawing close, Helen meets a visitor who’s thankful for the Ulster-Scots heritage and drive of his forebears – among them, America’s 11th President, James Knox Polk.
The team is always delighted to hear from listeners – especially if you’ve an Ulster-Scot yarns or event to advertise. You can contact them anytime by email – Kintra@bbc.co.uk - or say hello if you see them out and about.
