London Jazz Festival Special and Gary Crosby

Jamie celebrates the EFG London Jazz Festival with music from those performing as well as an interview from musician, educator and the Godfather of jazz Gary Crosby.

The Godfather of Jazz, Gary Crosby, joins Jamie ahead of this year’s EFG London Jazz Festival to talk about his journey in music as both a musician and educator of the future generation of musicians. Gary has been a key figure in jazz music and was awarded the Queen’s Medal for Music 2018. We speak to him about the importance of giving artists such as Nubya Garcia, Soweto Kinch, Zara McFarlane and Shabaka Hutchings, to name a few, a platform to learn and practice their skills as musicians.

There are numerous performances taking place across a multitude of venues in London and you can catch Tomorrow’s Warriors for a late-night jam session at PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho on Friday 22nd November from 11:30pm and the Nu Civilisation Orchestra at Southbank Centre Saturday 23rd November from 7:30pm.
