Hagen Koch recalls his battles when working for the Stasi. Recollections of life in East Germany. Read by Anna Chancellor.
Hagen Koch recalls his battles when working for the Stasi.
Real-life stories of both the East Germans who resisted the state and those who worked for the apparatus that spied on them. Once the Berlin Wall came down in November 1989, those who worked for the Stasi had to come to terms – or not – with their pasts.
While working in Berlin, Australian Anna Funder became curious about the stories of those who'd lived under the watchful eye of the Stasi, and of the stories of the Stasi men themselves.
In a series of meetings, she pieces together what life was like then and how they are coping with the aftermath.
Read by Anna Chancellor.
