More about the programme
The Welsh Government is consulting on proposals that would require home educated children to meet regularly with council officers to make sure that they are receiving a suitable education.
But many home educators are opposed to change, arguing that their educational freedoms risk being curtailed by unwarranted concerns about safe-guarding.
In the first of a new series Oliver Hides speaks to parents seeking a different class of education for their children and hear their fears that home education is being unfairly marked down.
