Last year, 2018 Open champion Francesco Molinari added his name to a stellar roll of honour that includes Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Paul Casey, Colin Montgomery, Seve Ballesteros and record four-time winner Sir Nick Faldo. The 2019 edition was the first tournament that counts towards qualification for Padraig Harrington’s European team for next September’s Ryder Cup so there was plenty at stake.
