Ian puts his foot down and Lynda has a bone to pick.

Sensing that David is down in the dumps, Pip suggests that they take a detour on their way to the cricket. As Bert’s umpiring, she takes David round into his garden and points out David’s leather jacket on a scarecrow. David’s mood lifts when he’s reunited with it, but Pip decides she won’t accompany him to the cricket while he’s wearing that crime against fashion. Later, David’s mortified to see Derek Fletcher wearing the same jacket.
Lynda’s cricket enthusiasm has reached new heights, and she sets up a video camera at the side of the pitch to analyse the match afterwards. Just as Darrington think they’ve won the match, Lynda declares a no ball and insists on showing Bert the evidence from her video camera. Thanks to her video evidence, Darrington’s play went downhill and Ambridge came out victorious. Over celebratory drinks at The Bull, Lynda has an idea, perhaps she could train as an umpire.
Oliver was inspired by Tracy’s suggestion of themed dinners at Grey Gables and has got two tickets to one. Perhaps they could go together in the name of research? Oliver is keen to give Freddie a chance as a kitchen porter in the Grey Gables kitchen. Ian is totally against the idea, but is persuaded to give him one trial shift.
