The almost believers - the big step to cross the church door
Perhaps the hardest church conversions are of those people who 'almost believe'. What would it take to make them cross the front door on a Sunday?
'If I did go to church, I'd probably go to your church' - the words that both please and irritate many a minister. So how do the churches encourage those 'almost believers' as they've been termed to take that final step or could it be they've reached an age of enlightenment where they don't believe that living a morally upright life requires attendance at a draughty building once or twice a week. And even if you are a believer, do you really need to go to church? Presenter Liz Kennedy in conversation with Thought for the Day contributor Raquel McKee, the commentator Sara Cook, Catholic Priest, Father Martin Magill and Michael Nugent from Atheist Ireland.
