Rachmaninov and Shostakovich
The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic, conducted by John StorgΓ¥rds, performs Rachmaninov's The Isle of the Dead, Shostakovich’s Symphony No 11 and the world premiere of Outi Tarkiainen’s Midnight Sun Variations.
Tom Service and Jess Gillam introduce an evening of light and darkness. John StorgΓ¥rds conducts the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Philharmonic in two dark Russian classics, Rachmaninov’s atmospheric The Isle of the Dead and Shostakovich’s broody Symphony No 11, 'The Year 1905'. Bringing light and hope is the world premiere of Finnish composer Outi Tarkiainen’s Midnight Sun Variations.
