A new report says more than 14 million people are living in poverty. In cash terms, that's a couple with two children bringing in less than 拢200 a week, after they've paid their rent.

Four million are even worse off than that - with incomes 50% below the official breadline.

People who are most affected are children, single parents and older people. There's also been a dramatic rise in child poverty in families of three or more children, due to policies that penalise larger families.

The report also highlights how nearly half of people who live in a household where someone is disabled live below the breadline.

The Social Metrics Commission says austerity has undermined two decades of anti-poverty policy, and being in work is no longer a protection against poverty.
