Call You and Yours: How are you meeting the costs of care?

Care costs are rising and there's increased demand, so we want to know how you're meeting the costs of care.

On our phone-in, we'd like to know how you're meeting the costs of care.

Care costs are rising and there's increased demand but figures suggest funding from councils has flat-lined over the past ten years.

Research published by market analysts LaingBuisson shows, β€œself-funding” for care home places in the UK is 95% higher than it was in 2007.

In contrast, state funding rose by just 13%, in the same period.

The report also suggests it's likely those self-funders will also be paying more.

On average, self-funders are paying fees of Β£846 a week, the analysis says - or Β£44,000 a year.

This compares to costs of around Β£32,000 a year for those funded by the state.

The government says it's given more money to local authorities and plans to reform the system.
