PIP Assessments Investigated
The Public Service Ombudsman, Marie Anderson, explains why she is investigating PIP assessments.
As the legal costs of Tribunals dealing with appeals against PIP soars to as much as Β£5m - and with thousands of appeals yet to be heard - the NI Public Service Ombudsman is the first in the UK to use a new power - Own Initiative - to investigate into how the Department for Communities is carrying out the PIP assessments - to see if the process is fair. Ombudsman Marie Anderson talks exclusively to Linda McAuley to explain why she is taking this step.
