Fiona Bruce investigates the history of the Manchester Ship Canal, which links the inland city to the River Mersey and the Irish Sea. Today'ss treasures include an opera singer’s perfume bottle, a travelling magician’s box of tricks and an early animation machine. Ronnie Archer Morgan examines possibly the heaviest item ever to be craned into the Antiques Roadshow – a Canadian totem pole 10 metres long and weighing almost two tonnes. Finally, expert John Axford values a statue of Buddha that’s been cleaned with wire wool and lemon juice. Has the owner ruined it or will it still be valuable?
