Coping with homelessness, surviving a stroke, and inspirational women
John hears from Sophie, who was in 54 foster placements before the age of 18, and Paul McLean tells us what it was like to overcome a stroke which left him unable to read or write.
John hears from Sophie, who was in 54 foster placements before the age of 18, and is now part of a campaign to highlight the difficulties people in care can face when they leave the system.
English teacher Paul McLean tells us what it was like to overcome a stroke which left him unable to read or write. Since then, he went on to trek 791 km of the Camino de Santiago across northern Spain and France, to fundraise for the Stroke Association, and now features in the Stroke Association's latest national TV advert.
John meets Dublin author Owen O’Doherty, who decided to write the book Bright Sparks about fifty extraordinary discoveries, inventions and designs by women – for his young daughter Anna, in response to her saying that she had never heard of anything invented by a woman.
And Paula McIntyre is serving up some scallops.
