Rituals, Prog rock and bendy reality
Kate Molleson with the best new music in live performance, plus new releases, features and interviews with composers and performers.
Featuring the best new music in live performance from around the UK and the world, plus new releases, features and interviews with composers and performers.
Tonight, Kate Molleson evokes a Pagan ritual with music by Hungarian composer Bence Kutrik and we hear Norwegian Sigurd Fischer Olsen's 'Sserenades'. Mark Knoop and Manuel Zurria perform Laurence Craneβs Gli Anni Prog (the βyears of progβ), a piece that draws inspiration from an Italian book about 70s prog rock legends Genesis. We hear some sonic mutations and mimicry in new releases from Swedish-Finnish electroacoustic composer Marja Ahti and People Like Us, pianist Nicolas Hodges performs Simon Steen-Andersenβs ground (and piano) breaking Concerto for piano, sampler, video and orchestra with the ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Thomas Dausgaard, and our Sound of the Week is the plaintive wail of an escalator at the Hague that sparked the imagination of Welsh composer Andrew Lewis.
