Chris Blount and Pete Allen
Two outstanding British clarinet playing leaders - the late Chris Blount and Pete Allen.
American producer Big Bill Bissonnette recorded many British bands, and in 1996 recorded the Chris Blount band in Nottingham. It was a timely recording because Chris sadly died two years later. His interest in the music of New Orleans was deeply influenced by the playing of George Lewis, and the recording demonstrates this perfectly.
Pete Allen was similarly inspired by traditional jazz, and with his groups of varying sizes, has broadened the spectrum of his music to provide popular programmes without compromising on quality.
