Bob celebrates 20 years of the show

Bob celebrates two decades of hosting country music on Radio 2, with a look back to 1999 and a look forward to 2020!

Twenty years ago Bob Harris started to present the Country Show on Radio 2, and tonight it's time to celebrate!

Since 1999 Bob - awarded the OBE for services to music broadcasting in 2011 - has introduced UK radio listeners to literally thousands of country artists, and cemented his position as one of the world's leading country music presenters with multiple awards from the likes of the Country Music Association, the British Country Music Association, the Americana Association and the International Folk Music Association.

Artists who received their UK first plays on Bob's show include Kacey Musgraves, Florida Georgia Line, Chris Stapleton, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban, and he has been a career-long supporter of the likes of Emmylou Harris, Steve Earle and Taylor Swift.

Additionally the programme has been a pioneer in promoting UK country music, boosting the likes of The Shires, Ward Thomas and Catherine McGrath and providing a valuable outlet for live music with hundreds of sessions broadcast and - since 2013 - the primary outlet on Radio 2 for the Country 2 Country festival, the biggest country music event in Europe.
