Ruby Wax joins Jo live in the studio for the latest edition of the Radio 2 Book Club. American author J.D. Salinger was born 100 years ago this year so this week we review his classic novel The Catcher In The Rye. First published in 1951 it has become one of the most popular coming-of-age books of all time. More than 65 million copies of the book have been sold around the world with an estimated 250,000 still sold every year. In it, teenager Holden Caulfield has just been expelled from school and pinballs around New York City determined to find a life of true meaning.
