This week, Roddy Hart’s guests are Kathryn Joseph and Eliza Shaddad.
Kathryn Joseph came to the fore in 2015 with her debut release Bones You Have Thrown Me And Blood I’ve Spilled. It earned the title Scottish Album Of The Year in 2015 and she’s become one of Scotland’s most powerful and affecting live performers. Kathryn returns to The Quay Sessions to play songs from her follow-up album, released on Mogwai’s Rock Action label, from when i wake the want is - along with longtime collaborator Marcus Mackay.
Eliza Shaddad is a nomadic musician who was raised across seven countries by her Sudanese and Scottish parents. She is a graduate in Jazz from The Guildhall School, has a Masters in Philosophy and is fluent in four languages. Eliza’s debut album Future is a masterful collection of candid songs, invoking The Cranberries and Wolf Alice, and draws on her diverse musical influences and unique life experiences.
