A Catholic police officer from Derry has revealed that he had to cut ties with some family members after joining the PSNI. He's been speaking publicly for the first time as part a special series on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Foyle on the challenges facing policing in the North West. It comes as the police admit there are still difficulties recruiting people from a Catholic and nationalist background. In October, the temporary deputy Chief Constable, Stephen Martin, said a return to 50/50 recruitment - which was designed to correct the religious imbalance in the police here - could not be ruled out.
