Border Crossing, Women's Suffrage, and Gardening

Crossing the border? That could in future cost you seven euros. And it's 100 years since the 1918 election, when women over 30 won the right to vote.

It's emerged that people with UK passports will have to buy a permit costing Β£6.30 to travel to EU countries - after Brexit. The European Commissions says travellers from the UK won't need a visa, but will have to apply for - and pay for - another document, called an ETIAS, from 2021.

It's 100 years since the 1918 general election. It was a day when votes were cast by those who sought a parliament in Ireland, by those who believed in Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Rule, by those who wanted full independence, and also, perhaps most significantly, by women. Because this was the first election when women over 30, with property, voted for the first time.

And Gareth Austin with advice and expertise on gardening, as winter draws in.
