Encouraging farmers and their families to take care of their mental wellbeing.

In More Detail...
It's a stark statistic - more than one farmer a week in the UK dies by taking their own life. Levels of depression are thought to be increasing with a combination of an uncertain future post Brexit, financial pressures and coping with everyday situations, including the weather. Yet while farmers give their livestock attention they pay little heed to their own mental health and wellbeing. Rachael Garside visits Carmarthen mart where a chaplaincy has just been set up by Y Grwp. As the day's trading gets underway she asks farmers what stresses them and how they cope. We hear how a helpline run by farmers for farmers is being supported by the Dolgellau nurses volunteering their help. And Ffermio presenter Alun Elidyr shares his experience of depression and what helped him.
