A visitor comes in search of the most elusive of creatures. Is Marionetta’s effect on Scythrop waning?

Kenneth Williams continues the Gothic satire poking fun at the Romantic Movement in English literature of the time and its obsession with the morbid.

First published in 1818, β€˜Nightmare Abbey’ follows the fortunes of widower Christopher Glowry, who lives with his son, Scythrop, in the dilapidated family mansion- in Lincolnshire, on a dry stretch of land between the sea and the fens.

Abridged in 8-parts and produced by Martin Remes.

First broadcast on ΒιΆΉΤΌΕΔ Radio 4 in 1979.
